Sun Ray Chicks Hatchery was founded by Ralph & Elaine DeGraw in 1982 in Hazleton Iowa. Ralph has been involved in the poultry business since 1966 and in 1972 he and Elaine began managing a chick store until they started their own in 1982. In 1995 they built a new hatchery next to the existing store and have been hatching quality chicks ever since. Besides chicks of various breeds, they also offer Turkeys, Ducklings, Goslings, Guineas as well as feed, equipment and supplies.
In 1986 they opened a satellite store in Mechanicsville, IA. The Mechanicsville store is now closed and all orders should be placed directly with the Hazleton main office.
Sun Ray offers Jumbo Cornish Rock Broilers, various breeds of laying pullets and now offers Black Australorps and other colored poultry for the Asian market, the latter being hatched year round.
